Places that inspire the books

19th century Queen Anne style home

This is my favorite of the Queen Anne style Victorian homes in Northside, and is very like (though not identical) to Lia’s new home in Fur Boys.

Hamilton Avenue

Hamilton Avenue is the main drag in Northside, known for funky businesses. Which character from Muddy Mouth is sitting on the ledge outside the coffee shop?

Chicken Lays An Egg

When I moved to Northside, Hamilton Avenue was lined with junk shops and used appliance stores. The strip has evolved. It’s still funky, but even the second hand stores are arty.

Parade Shark

The Northside Fourth of July parade is the second largest in Cincinnati (behind the Reds opening day parade) Many of the home grown floats and acts in Muddy Mouth were in past parades.
